Spent last night in Columbia. Since the Gamecocks were away, we had a lot of choices for dinner. Given the combination of Trip Advisor reviews and a recommendation from the hotel, we went to Mr. Friendly's. The three of us (including a growing high schooler who is always hungry) ordered two of the three course specials plus an extra appetizer. We ended up with a take-out box! The food was excellent -- the service was at least very good. Well worth a visit.

My parents were in town for the weekend, and we needed a good place to have dinner. My brother suggested Mr. Friendly's, and it was a fantastic choice. Great atmosphere (if a little cramped), wonderful food, good wine selection. I got the daily vegetarian selection, and it was one of the best meals I've ever had. I'm not even a vegetarian, but I wouldn't be surprised if I stick with the veggie option every time I go! This place is a Columbia institution, and it's easy to see why.

Came in here on a whim, great reviews. Pulled up and I inquired about parking... there's valet but you can also park yourself. As it was early I parked easily. The bartender helped me order (I nixed the idea of vegetarian entree) and ordered the heirloom tomato salad, gazpacho, and meat loaf.
